High blood pressure is a hidden killer
High blood pressure can also be called hypertension; both words mean the same thing. If you have a blood pressure measurement that is consistently higher than 150/90mmHg, you are considered to be suffering from high blood pressure.
High blood pressure is a risk factor for heart disease, stroke, kidney disease and dementia. This means that if you have high blood pressure you are at greater risk of developing these diseases than someone whose blood level pressure is normal. Everyone who has high blood pressure should make changes to their lifestyle.
lifestyle changes can and should be adopted by the whole family, as increasing evidence suggests that this will lower blood pressure and prevent it rising in later in life.
