Think Pharmacy First, Think Prestwich Pharmacy.

Who is eligible?

Anyone can access this service from their pharmacy.

Call us or make an appointment online (same-day appointments are available at Prestwich Pharmacy).

Both the appointment and the treatment are operated by the NHS, so if you receive free prescriptions this service will also be free.

If you pay for your prescriptions, the standard prescription charge applies for any treatment prescribed.

This is an NHS England service and is now provided by more than 95% of pharmacies in England.

How does this reduce pressure on GPs?

By freeing up appointments for blood pressure checks, contraception and minor ailments GPs will have more time available to see patients with more complex conditions.

Will I be seen by a professional?

Yes! Pharmacists are medically trained professionals who are very capable of assessing your symptoms and providing appropriate care and advice.

Do I need to tell my GP or get a referral?

No, we can update your medical records so your GP will be aware of the appointment and any treatment given should you visit them in the future.

What will happen in the appointment?

Speak to a member of staff at the counter and let them know you have an appointment.

Within a few minutes, you'll be invited to a private consultation room with a pharmacist to discuss your symptoms.
